English, Class - 2: Articles
The Indefinite Articles: A / An (Noma'lum artikllar: A / An) ๐ฒ
Here is your complete, all-in-one tutorial on Articles (A, An, The). ๐ท๏ธ
1. The Indefinite Articles: A / An (Noma'lum artikllar: A / An) ๐ฒ
We use A or AN when we are talking about one thing, and it is not specific. It basically means "one of many." (Biz A yoki AN ni bitta narsa haqida gapirganda ishlatamiz va u aniq emas. Bu asosan "ko'plardan biri" degan ma'noni anglatadi.)
๐ก The Big Rule: You can ONLY use "A" or "An" with singular, countable nouns. You cannot use them with plural or uncountable nouns! (Siz "A" yoki "An" ni FAQAT birlikdagi, sanaladigan otlar bilan ishlata olasiz. Ularni ko'plik yoki sanalmaydigan otlar bilan ishlata olmaysiz!)
When to use "A" (Qachon "A" ishlatiladi): Use "A" before a word that starts with a consonant sound (undosh tovush: b, c, d, f, g, etc.).
- I am building a website. (Men [qandaydir bitta] veb-sayt yaratyapman.)
- Usmon is a student. (Usmon [ko'plab talabalardan biri] talaba.)
When to use "An" (Qachon "An" ishlatiladi): Use "An" before a word that starts with a vowel sound (unli tovush: a, e, i, o, u). This makes speaking much easier and smoother.
- I want an apple. (Men [har qanday bitta] olma xohlayman.)
- She is an English teacher. (U ingliz tili o'qituvchisi.)
โ ๏ธ Warning: It's about SOUND, not spelling! (Diqqat: Gap yozilishida emas, TOVUSHDA!)
- It takes an hour. (Bu bir soat vaqt oladi.) -> Even though "hour" starts with 'h', the 'h' is silent, so it sounds like "our" (vowel).
- I study at a university. (Men universitetda o'qiyman.) -> Even though it starts with 'u', it sounds like "yu-ni-ver-si-ty" (consonant 'y').
2. The Definite Article: The (Ma'lum artikl: The) ๐ฏ
We use THE when we are talking about a specific thing. If you use "the," you are telling the listener: "You know exactly which one I am talking about." (Biz THE artiklini aniq bir narsa haqida gapirganda ishlatamiz. Agar siz "the" ni ishlatsangiz, tinglovchiga shunday deyayotgan bo'lasiz: "Men aynan qaysi biri haqida gapirayotganimni bilasan.")
Rule 1: The Second Mention (Ikkinchi marta tilga olinganda) When you introduce a noun for the first time, use "a/an". When you talk about it again, it is now specific, so you use "the". (Otni birinchi marta tanishtirganda "a/an" dan foydalaning. U haqida yana gapirganingizda, u endi aniq bo'ladi, shuning uchun "the" dan foydalanasiz.)
- I created a test. The test is very difficult. (Men bitta test yaratdim. O'sha test juda qiyin.)
Rule 2: Unique Things in the World (Dunyoda yagona bo'lgan narsalar) If there is only one of something in the world, we always use "the". (Agar dunyoda biron narsadan faqat bitta bo'lsa, biz har doim "the" dan foydalanamiz.)
- The sun is shining. (Quyosh charaqlayapti.)
- I found this information on the internet. (Men bu ma'lumotni internetdan topdim.)
Rule 3: Specific Contexts (Aniq vaziyatlar) When it's obvious which thing you mean because of where you are. (Qayerda ekanligingiz tufayli nima haqida gapirayotganingiz aniq bo'lganda.)
- Could you please close the door? (Iltimos, eshikni yopib yuborasizmi? -> We both know which door.)
3. Zero Article: No Article at all! (Artikl ishlatilmaydigan holatlar) ๐ซ
Sometimes, we leave the space blank. In tests, this is often marked with a dash (-). (Ba'zida biz joyni bo'sh qoldiramiz. Testlarda bu ko'pincha chiziqcha (-) bilan belgilanadi.)
Rule 1: Plural nouns in general (Ko'plikdagi otlar umumiy ma'noda)
- I love - students who ask questions. (Men savol beradigan talabalarni yaxshi ko'raman. -> All students in general, not specific ones.)
Rule 2: Uncountable nouns in general (Sanalmaydigan otlar umumiy ma'noda)
- - Python is a great programming language. (Piton ajoyib dasturlash tili.)
- I drink - water every morning. (Men har tong suv ichaman.)
Rule 3: Proper Nouns like Countries, Cities, and Names (Atoqli otlar: Davlatlar, shaharlar va ismlar) Most countries, cities, and names do NOT take an article. (Aksariyat davlatlar, shaharlar va ismlar artikl qabul qilmaydi.)
- I live in - Tashkent. (Men Toshkentda yashayman.)
- I want to visit - Japan. (Men Yaponiyaga tashrif buyurishni xohlayman.)
