English, Class - 12: Conditionals

If + Present Simple , [Subject] + Present Simple

Welcome to the next essential topic in Phase 3! Now that you know how to link verbs together, it is time to learn how to express conditions using "If".

Today, we are tackling the first half of this topic: Zero & First Conditionals.

⚖️ Conditionals (Shart ergash gaplar)

What are Conditionals? (Shart gaplar o'zi nima?) English: Conditionals are sentences with two parts. One part is the Condition (the "If" part), and the other part is the Result (what happens). Uzbek: Shart gaplar ikki qismdan iborat bo'ladi. Birinchi qismi Shart ("Agar" qismi), ikkinchi qismi esa Natija (nima sodir bo'lishi).

0️⃣ The Zero Conditional (Nolinchi shart gapi)

When to use it? (Qachon ishlatamiz?) English: We use the Zero Conditional for facts, rules, and general truths. These are things that are 100% true every time. If A happens, B always happens. Uzbek: Biz nolinchi shart gapni faktlar, qoidalar va umumiy haqiqatlar uchun ishlatamiz. Bular har doim 100% to'g'ri bo'ladigan narsalar. Agar A sodir bo'lsa, har doim B sodir bo'ladi.

🧱 Structure (Tuzilishi): If + Present Simple , [Subject] + Present Simple (Ikkala qismda ham oddiy hozirgi zamon ishlatiladi).

Use Cases & Examples (Holatlar va Misollar):

  • Scientific Facts (Ilmiy faktlar):
    • 🇬🇧: If you heat ice, it melts.
    • 🇺🇿: Agar muzni qizdirsangiz, u eriydi.
  • Technology & Rules (Texnologiya va Qoidalar):
    • 🇬🇧: If the server goes offline, the website stops working.
    • 🇺🇿: Agar server oflayn (o'chiq) holatga o'tsa, veb-sayt ishlashdan to'xtaydi.
  • Routines (Odatlar):
    • 🇬🇧: If I drink coffee late at night, I don't sleep well.
    • 🇺🇿: Agar kechasi qahva ichsam, yaxshi uxlay olmayman.

1️⃣ The First Conditional (Birinchi shart gapi)

When to use it? (Qachon ishlatamiz?) English: We use the First Conditional for real and possible future situations. It is not a 100% fact, but there is a very high chance it will happen. Uzbek: Biz birinchi shart gapni kelajakdagi real va sodir bo'lishi mumkin bo'lgan vaziyatlar uchun ishlatamiz. Bu 100% fakt emas, lekin sodir bo'lish ehtimoli juda yuqori.

🧱 Structure (Tuzilishi): If + Present Simple , [Subject] + will + Verb (Infinitive) (Shart qismida oddiy hozirgi zamon, Natija qismida esa kelasi zamon "will" ishlatiladi).

Use Cases & Examples (Holatlar va Misollar):

  • Future Plans (Kelajakdagi rejalar):
    • 🇬🇧: If I finish my work early, I will go to the Japanese restaurant.
    • 🇺🇿: Agar ishimni erta tugatsam, yapon restoraniga boraman.
  • Warnings & Threats (Ogohlantirish va Tahdidlar):
    • 🇬🇧: If you don't save the code, you will lose your progress.
    • 🇺🇿: Agar kodni saqlamasangiz, qilingan ishlaringizni yo'qotasiz.
  • Promises (Va'dalar):
    • 🇬🇧: If the students pass the test, I will give them certificates.
    • 🇺🇿: Agar o'quvchilar testdan o'tishsa, men ularga sertifikat beraman.

🥊 The Big Comparison: Zero vs. First Conditional

(Nolinchi va Birinchi shart gaplarni solishtiramiz)

Here is how you know which one to choose. Remember, no tables here, just clear rules! (Qaysi birini tanlashni shu yerdan bilib olasiz. Yodingizda tuting, bu yerda jadvallar yo'q, faqat aniq qoidalar!)

Focus on Time and Reality (Vaqt va Reallikka e'tibor qarating):

The Zero Conditional is about General Time (Anytime) and Facts. It applies to everyone or happens every single time. (Nolinchi shart gapi Umumiy vaqt (istalgan vaqt) va Faktlar haqida. U hammaga tegishli yoki har safar sodir bo'ladi).

  • 🇬🇧: If it rains, the grass gets wet. (Fact. Always true).
  • 🇺🇿: Agar yomg'ir yog'sa, o'tlar ho'l bo'ladi. (Fakt. Har doim to'g'ri).

The First Conditional is about a Specific Future Event. It is about one specific situation that might happen later. (Birinchi shart gapi Kelajakdagi aniq bir hodisa haqida. Bu keyinroq sodir bo'lishi mumkin bo'lgan bitta aniq vaziyat).

  • 🇬🇧: If it rains tomorrow, I will stay home. (Specific plan for tomorrow).
  • 🇺🇿: Agar ertaga yomg'ir yog'sa, men uyda qolaman. (Ertangi kun uchun aniq reja).

⚠️ Important Punctuation Rule (Muhim tinish belgisi qoidasi)

The Comma Rule (Vergul qoidasi) English: You can flip the sentence around! If the "If" part is at the beginning, use a comma. If the "If" part is in the middle, do not use a comma. Uzbek: Siz gapning o'rinlarini almashtirishingiz mumkin! Agar "If" (agar) qismi gapning boshida kelsa, vergul ishlating. Agar "If" qismi gapning o'rtasida kelsa, vergul ishlatmang.

  • With Comma (Vergul bilan): If I learn Python, [,] I will build a great website.
  • No Comma (Vergulsiz): I will build a great website if I learn Python.
